Is It Just Me...
or does it seem BSU's recruitng seems a bit out of kilter? We recruited 20 people in 2006, 26 in 07 and 15 in 08 and 19 in 09. Each year we were pretty successful and kept the hopper somewhat filled. But this year, have room for just 5 scholarships. OK, I understnad you can'r always get the people yoiu want for available positions and maybe you have to take the good ones when you find them. I agree with both considerations. But when you look three years out, when the kids we recruit this year are ready to play a leading role, we are not deep. I am not knocking the coaches exactly, just commenting that something doesn't seem quite right. I don't know how to fix it or even if there can be a fix. But by now, I would think BSUs draw should be sufficent that our cupboard doesn't have to be as bare as it appears to be in the out years.
This content was not created by OBNUG and therefore may not meet our standards. On the contrary, it probably exceeds them.

The comforting thing is that the Broncos are playing with only a couple seniors this year, so that keeps me from worrying too much about small recruiting classes in the future. So long as those big classes are stocked with tons of great talent and the small classes have one or two stars (like African-American Richie Brockel and Kyle Wilson) I can picture things being pretty similar to this year. And that doesn’t scare me. Too much.

It's not quite that bad
BSU actually got commitments from 21 kids in ‘08 and ’09. BSU’s ace in the hole is the great walk-ons they get, Also, there are scholarships held in reserve, so the Broncos will offer more than 5 for 2010.
In fact, there are already 5 commits for 2010. Bryan Douglas just commited today. There is also a kid from Australia that is supposed to be coming in on a sholarship. And BSU has, at least, 4 more offers pending. There will be a few more offers, toward the end of the season, as the coaches determine who they need.
