Countdown Schmountdown: #61

The atomic clock actually says that we have just 61 days until the Ducks hit the blue turf (hard).

So, today we'll continue our countdown by briefly highlighting the Bronco player with the jersey number that corresponds with the number of days remaining till the opener. Sorry there isn't a more clear and concise way to explain that.

And we're off...

#61 Joe Kellogg, OG

If you are an Arizona high school football award, chances are you were displayed prominently in Kellogg's bedroom some time in 2007. In Kellogg's senior year at Saguaro High, the 6'4", 290-pound guard helped lead the team to a 14-0 record and a state championship, and he cleaned up the award circuit along the way. Among the most notable, he was named first-team all-state and all-region. Among the less notable, he was honored by the Interscholastic Association, the Coaches, the Tribune, the Desert Sky Region, the city of Scottsdale, the National Football Foundation, Cox 7 Television, and the Arizona Republic - twice. He was also voted "Most likely to sit on you and not notice" by his high school class.

The Broncos were the only team to offer Kellogg, which is probably why the Broncos have the nation's best winning percentage in the past decade. He had much interest from other schools (including Colorado, Colorado State, and both big Arizona schools), but what really sold Kellogg on Boise State was the fact that Bronco fans know the names of the offensive linemen. You're welcome.

Fun fact: Kellogg played both ways in high school, serving as the team's defensive tackle. Yikes.
