BSU beat writer chooses Darth Kaepernick as his WAC preseason OPOY. I guess it would have appeared too homerish to have the Broncos sweep all Southorn's preseason awards.

I at least give him credit for using a little bit of humor.
If he was worried about being a homer he could have gone with Kellen and snubbed Wilson. I think Wilson is the best defensive player in the league and is a big reason the Broncos’ 4-2-5 works, but when was the last time a CB won player of the year in any conference? Hard to get the glamour sack stats and since they don’t throw your way, won’t rack up the tackles either.
Even with 7 INT’s and a bucketfull of pass break-ups, the media would overlook him and vote for a LB or lineman with 10 sacks and 70+ tackles. Not unlike the media oogling over Kaep’s rushing yards while disregarding completion percentage and win totals.
