For all the crazy talking [coach Pat] Hill does about playing anyone anywhere and all his cute slogans, he really is a pretty conservative offensive football coach. They've just tried to grind it out, and that's not working anymore.

Finally someone speaks truthfully about Hill. Even though I can’t stand the Little General, he is right. Just to take a look at the end of the bowl game last year against Colorado St. In an essentially meaningless bowl game, with just minutes left, instead of going for it on 4th, he chose to punt and rely on his D to with the game. The same D that had been getting used like a blow up doll all game long by CSU’s running game. Same type of thing happened in the Wisconsin game earlier in the season. He put Fresno on the map, but if they ever want to step up to BSU’s level, he should go. God I hope the FSU AD isn’t reading this.

Keep in mind, I am just speculating that it was Ault...
But, seriously…who else would’ve said it? The only person I can think of would be Dick Tomey and I really doubt he’d spout off like that. Mumme and Guy are gone and Akey says dumb stuff, but they can’t beat Fresno so that wouldn’t make sense. Pete and Dooley have too much class.
It was Ault…“allegedly”

Maybe Akey’s mustache has a mind of it’s own. Kind of like how Vincent Ludwig had Reggie Jackson almost shoot the Queen in Naked Gun.

Some truth to the "Potshot"
Althougth I have a lot of respect for coach Hill, Sometimes players are content just making the team. If they had the drive and determination to win like he does, maybe they would knock off a few ranked teams once in a while.
Wow
I find that seriously hard to believe. You can’t ever put this type of blame on the players. If the players are un-motivated, it’s the coaches fault, and the coach needs to go. If it IS just the players, then the coach needs to get rid of said players and get new ones, or the coach needs to go.
Your theory (if I understood you correctly) is ridiculously flawed.

Some truth
OK, pour choice of words. My point is, Fresno had such high hopes with last years team primed to take a stand. For that team to go 7-6 and loose to Boise 10-61…..The “potshot” isn’t so much a potshot. Doesn’t matter who’s fault it is.
Its not just last year. Its EVERY year since 2001. Fresno always has lots of pre-season hype because of their tough OOC scheduling. Problem is, they can’t get past the easy teams on their conference schedule, so who cares about being a world-beater at that point.
Its like my 5 year-old boy. He desparately wants to be like his dad so he wears my shoes, hats, and glasses, etc. Everybody gushes over him and gives him lots of attention. Then, some where in between, he pisses off his 8 year-old brother and get his butt handed to him and he falls back to earth realizing that wearing my shoes is only the illusion of “running with the big dogs”. There are still smaller hurdles he can get over yet.
Kind of a long-winded analogy but you get the point. Right?
