Wacc

That's shocking. Boise State has outscored its conference opponents by nearly 800 points over the past four years. I may need to make this story my new profile bio.

That blows my mind. I love seeing statistical breakdowns like this.

Great find!

Looking at this you wonder why Fresno State gets the hype year after year.

And Idaho? Ouch.

Fantastic!

After reading this post and the link contained therein, I was filled with a happiness that can only be described as euphoric. I love Boise State and anyone that statistically proves how dominant BSU is. Is it August yet?

The numbers were really mind-boggling for me. Not so much the Broncos’ record, because everyone knows that. But that point differential. Amazing! In four years, nearly 800 points. And over 1300 point difference between the Broncos and the Vandals. It is really a testament to the defense more than anything (as the story rightly points out) because Hawaii had great offense those years but was still almost 400 points lower than the Broncos.

Tears of joy, everybody.

Thank you letter

I think you owe New Mexico State a thank you letter because 169 points (or 21%) of that differential is courtesy of us.

Agreed...

Thanks are in order for any team called the “Aggies”, really.

I loved the defensive stat, too.

The national media likes to emphasize the skill position players and the high-octane offense Boise has run as the key to their success…, but the defense has been the dominant force in their foray through the WAC. They have boasted the league’s best defense three years running, with a silver medal thrown in for good measure in 2005.

Like the kudos to the defense.

It is not often that a neutral party recognizes the defense being the catalyst for the Broncos’ success.

I understand why he chose to start tracking in 2005 since that is when conferences experienced some stability. I wondered if the Sun Belt castaways diluted the WAC making the scoring margin even more pronounced. But if you look at the years of 2002 to 2004, the Broncos beat up on the likes of Tulsa, Rice and UTEP just the same. 2002 had a scoring margin of +298 on its own.
