Poll Watch - Week 10 / Boise State Ranked #6 In All Polls
Boise State managed to do something this week, that some other teams were unable to do; Win. But, according the the national media, they did not do so in a "convincing manor". When a win is a win only to the "AQ" teams, Boise State is held to a much higher standard. But was there not "style" in this game? Kellen Moore threw for three touchdowns and 354 yards, while the team managed to score 45 points. Credit should be given to La Tech for making this a game, but why take away from what the team accomplished? The simple fact is, Boise State is undefeated, something that Iowa wishes that they can say this morning.
Well it was another crazy weekend of College Football, but at this point in the season have we come to expect anything less? Florida beats Vanderbilt, but was it a "blowout"? Does it have to be? What does Florida care about style points anyway? They still have some left over from last year. Texas's victory looks more like a "blowout" even though they only scored 8 more points than Florida did, while both teams defenses held the other team to just a field goal. Alabama managed to put LSU away in the 4th quarter keeping their dreams alive. A goal without a plan is only a wish. And Iowa wished that they had a plan to score points in more than just the first quarter. Close wins don't matter when you are a BCS "AQ" team. And no team is more grateful for that today than Cincinnati! TCU is adding up their style points like a kid at the prize counter of Chuck E Cheese's (where a kid can be a kid), hoping they have enough to get that really cool BCS game. When are we going to hear the 4 Letters start talking about TCU's National Championship chances? Mean while Boise State keeps winning the games that are on their schedule while most of the media types are conjuring up things to say that will make them look bad. They have to tread lightly now though, because whatever they say to discredit Boise State will inevitably bring down their precious USC, and they don't want that to happen! For that same reason, there is not much that we Bronco fans can say about Oregon. Let's just say, they lost to a conference opponent and leave it at that. At least we don't have to hear anymore of the "Should Oregon Jump Boise State" debating! The debate now will be "Should USC be ranked ahead of Oregon"? Georgia Tech wins an OT squeaker, but that's ok, they're AQ, close wins don't effect them. Anyone else think we'll see tOhio State jump into the top 10 after beating Penn State? For all of you Gamecasters who thought that Tulsa won check this out! And I can't decide what is better, Oklahoma only scoring 3 points in their loss or Jimmy Clausen getting beat again and not being able to go to a BCS game... It's a tossup.
Meanwhile in the WAC...
Hawaii remembers how to score points, much to the chagrin of the vacationing Utah State Aggies. With the way that they played against Fresno State last week, I know I was expecting them to win. Too much poi I suppose. On the mainland, in a more domey environment, Akey's Army was held scoreless in the Battle For The First Half, but after Brigadier General Stache's half-time pep talk the Platoon came back with a "lost-the-battle, win-the-war" mentality and came within ten points of victory. Was this a preview of what next week will be like? Possibly, except for both halves of the game for the Vandals will look the same as the first half did this week for them. New Mexico State decided to take this week off in order to spend more time in counseling, with the hope that they can turn their season around. Something makes me think that that will do them no good. One spot of sunshine on their darkened day, with the beat down they took at tOhio State last week, they will be able to afford to buy food for the team in the off season! We will all have to wait until later tonight to see if San Jose State has what it takes to keep Bean Pole and Crew from tearing up the turf in their home stadium. For some reason, I just don't see that happening.
On to the polls!

hey
good stuff man i look forward to the broncos being 6th while most the teams behind us are quite a ways back because none of them had convincing wins ga tech only won by a couple same for usc, otherwise the other teams lost penn st, lsu, oregon, etc and i think we might have gained some ground with cincy struggling against uconn.

Fresno State
Finally getting some points. They should easily be in top 25/20 if they win out with UNR and Illinois on their sched.

USC at 10 and 11
I don’t get it. They were inept against Oregon (who just lost) and only scored 14 points in their last game. I figured they would stay put not move up. Talk about a team with left over style points!

Well, Silly . . .
If Bradford had not gotten injured, they would have won more games. Plus: tradition.
Clearly, no need for playoffs when we have this completely reasonable voting system!

This weeks huge
Cincy vs Pittsburgh, Ohio St vs Iowa, Tcu vs Utah. 3 big games that could all have a baring on where we go to bowl wise. Preferably im pulling for Pitt, Osu, and Utah. I think Pitt and Osu are locks, cincy’s d obviously couldnt stop an ok uconn team, how do they plan on stopping a pitt team that is currently on fire? and osu will dominate a beaten up iowa team, now as for tcu utah i honestly think tcu wins, but utah did play well even against a bad n.m. team yesterday, should be all very interseting :)

cincinnati is at west virginia friday the 13th
not pittsburgh until december 5th. but i get the gist of your message. the bearcats will have a tough time against the mountaineers and if they escape from morgantown with a win the spectre of pittsburgh as a season finale will loom large.

i don't get it
cincinnati ekes out a two point victory at home over a 4 and 4 uconn team and they pass us in the coaches poll? we stumble and still pull out a ten point victory on the road. who fills out the poll? some freshman locker room attendant or maybe a cheerleader?
c’mon fellas. do some homework. look at the head to head. cincy beats miami of ohio 37 to 13. we beat miami of ohio 48 to 0. cincinnati beats fresno state by 8. we beat fresno state by 17.
bull pucky, i cry! something stinks in the usa today!

I think Karma was just annoyed with the debate. Karma played with you Thursday night, but ultimately gave the choice to you. Since you guys got to play first, that meant Oregon had to lose to end the debating. :-)

They’re all reacting to last week’s BCS rankings and not their own rankings. Therefore, everyone probably had Boise State slotted at 7 and moved them up 1 to 6 after the Iowa lost.
That’s the result of everyone using the BCS rankings when talking about the teams and seeing a #7 next to Boise State all week.
by Nick Kroes on Nov 8, 2009 12:51 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
we got 'em right where we want 'em
cincy has to play west virginia in morgantown friday — good chance they lose. if not this week, on december 5th they play pittsburgh at pittsburgh — another real good chance for a loss. lose either game and we jump them to #5.
alabama and florida play for the sec championship. one of them has to lose. and chances are good a #5 boise state moves up to #4. that would make the top four texas, florida (or alabama), tcu and bsu.
life is good. it’s gonna be a real pleasure to root for west virginia and pittsburgh the next few weeks.

AGREE 100%
right now the bcs should look like this
Florida
texas
bama
tcu
cincy
boise
ga tech
pitt
osu
usc
etc lol
in the mean time im thinking by the end of the year Boise is ranked 4th or 5th depending on cincy and tcu remaining schedules. 4th sounds about right tho
Alabama
Texas
Tcu
Boise
Florida

That’s what I’m afraid of.

I love how Cincy barely wins at home. Yes, they were up by 20 then let Uconn back in the game, but isn’t that the same thing Boise did? but on the road.. And won by more than 3? Yet it hurts Boise to “barely” win on the road and Cincy isn’t affected by their struggles at home? ridiculous.

Well
I guess I’ll take a resounding 6. I am so frustrated with the polls right now – it’s unreal. I don’t understand how in the world SC can lose to Oregon AND Washington and be ranked ahead of Oregon and don’t even get me started everywhere else (Cinci). So much for head to head competition…
I’m seriously just sick to my stomach thinking that the PAC 10 is going to send a 2 loss team to the Rose Bowl and we’re crossing our fingers to go to any bowl at all.
TCU’s success is well deserved – I wish that I didn’t have to hate them as much as I do.
Let’s just start calling this what it is… (Ole) Boys Club Series.

Love it.
USC wins by 5. Georgia Tech wins in OT. Cincy and Houston win at the last second.
Boise State wins by 10 and we aren’t an elite team.
Hey, remember when TCU barely beat Air Force? How about when Tennessee had a kick blocked that would’ve beaten Alabama?
No? Didn’t think so. Good grief look at world beater Utah’s record last year…they squeaked by in about 5 of their wins and were held to less than 15 points in a couple. Why does the double standard seem to affect Boise State the most? Are people just sick of us winning all the time?

Mark May and Craig James eached dropped one slot and Tom Dienhart has taken my new #1 most hated sportcaster!

Do elite teams worthy of BCS bowls struggle to win at Louisiana Tech? The Broncos did in securing an unimpressive 45-35 victory on Friday.
Do elite teams worthy of BCS bowls even play at Louisiana Tech? I see them playing AT Auburn and AT LSU (next week) and AT Navy. Last year, they played AT Kansas. The year before that, AT California, Mississippi and LSU. The year before that, AT Nebraska and AT Clemson. You get the picture.
It’s hard to say if teams worthy of BCS bowls struggle to win at LT, because they never go there to play.
