The team that no one will play...
I just saw THIS ARTICLE on the front page of Yahoo.com. It turns out, more people in the nation (and the media) are on our side than we thought...
He makes a very interesting point, though. If "elite" programs are so sure of themselves and so sure that we wouldn't be able to do a thing in their conference, why won't they play us and prove it? Dan Wetzel suggests collusion; I think it's cowardice. These teams know that they can ride a crappy non-conference schedule to the National Championship Game (see Florida, 2009), so what incentive do they have? They all saw what we did to Oregon on national television - are they too afraid to suffer the same fate?
I just can't believe that no team will answer the call. We're giving them home-field advantage, for crying out loud! It's one game, one time, and they even get to play it at home? And it nationally televised!! What's the problem here???
Well, now it looks like people are starting to call them out. Will they answer, or will they continue to hide in the corner under their big BCS blanket?
In the words of Tallahassee, "It's time to nut up or shut up."

One will.
But it will be Syracuse…

wazzou or indiana
indiana would be perfect b/c you would have the best team who covers the spread over the last twelve years(boise state) vs the team with the worst covering the spread(indiana) in the last 12 years. kellen moore in his last year i would say the point spread would be 21 and 1/2 points. lol.

I voted Yes...
But it wouldn’t be an ‘elite’ team… Probable a mid-tier BCS team. (Frown)

How Many
“elite teams” have holes in their schedule for 2011?
Lobby them, start a mail campaign, get ESPN to talk about it, write everyone.
I lobbied for you guys last year to go to a better bowl game, one in the east where you’d have played Georgia Tech (Chick-Fil-A) under a tad more media scrutiny.

Any SEC team would be good.
1. Because I’ll be able to attend
2. Because these guys are so pompous, they actually think Kentucky and Vanderbilt are better than everyone too.
Boise State - The best in all the land (The "land" being Idaho, and large parts of California, Oregon, and Nevada.)

my wish list
1 mississippi — because houston nutt is the head coach and i haven’t forgiven him for leaving in the middle of the night after only one season. even though i’m an arkansas alumnus and i know it was his dream job (which didn’t last long did it?!) he should have stayed here, developed a program, shown he could be successful and then taken the job. but i gotta admit, the guy sure lands on his feet. good luck at ole miss, houston.
2 arizona state — because dennis erickson is the head coach. another one of those coaches who sneaks out of town in the middle of the night. his wife told him not to take the idaho job the second time if he wasn’t going to stay like he promised he would and he took it anyway — for one year.
3 colorado — because dan hawkins is the head coach and that’s a good thing. (but what’s up with cody’s hometown being listed as woodland, california on the fox sports buffaloes roster page?) i respect hawk a lot. i think this would be a great game and possibly a great rivalry.
4 oregon — because we’ve got their number and i love the way it gets under the skin of those guys over at atq. “rubber ducky, you’re the one…” can’t get that tune out of my head.
5 georgia — because i’d like to beat the bulldogs between the hedges and get rid of some of the nasty taste that’s still in my mouth. turn the ball over five times in the first half. c’mon.
6 usc — because it would give us a chance to really see how we measure up against a nationally prominent program. and i think we’d measure up pretty good. as paul j would say — go broncos!

Nebraska
Here is their AD’s email address:
Guy named Tom Osborne.

Hi coach Osborne:
I noticed with interest that Nebraska has an open date on September 3rd. What a great opportunity!
Boise State is offering to go anywhere to play on that date and will not ask for a return home game.

This is an excellent time for Nebraska to become nationally prominent again, by playing the team no one will play and giving your fine coach and team a chance to show themselves on the national stage early on.
I hope you Huskers will show up those schools avoiding Boise State, take them on and giving us fans a great game with a huge back story so early in the season..
Best of luck in all your games, and best wishes in all your endeavors,

nebraska became nationally prominent this year when they turned the ball over 8 times
to an iowa state team that had not beaten the cornhuskers since 1966 (in nebraska) i think final score was 9-7. if you really wrote him more power to you.

I did
That was my e-mail, cut and pasted to show you my support.
I also asked the Alabama guys to lobby for a game ahgainst them on that date.
See the thread here at Roll ’Bama Roll, and I started one on Block U seen here to get you guys some support.
I’m kind of suprised more of the Bronco Nation has not responded. Perhaps they have but I’ve just not seen it. Cheers and best luck on getting a quality opponent for that date.
Need a thread on the Mountain West blog as well.

Also
Note that Alabama has a hole on that date. That would give them you guys and Penn State back to back.
