Non-BSU games to watch (Week 12):
It's a very different thing having to cheer for teams at the top of the conference. As a Boise State fan, I'm accustomed to wanting anybody and everybody to be upset. This weekend may teach me a few things: patience, courtesy, respect; but may also bore my interest in college football. BCS, you BAD WORD BAD WORD! You've totally screwed college football.
Two WAC games and three Big 10 games? What is this season coming to? You might be surprised; read after this jump (meaning: scroll down a little bit. I'm not on the front page where the jump is actually useful) for what games you should be watching this week:
- 10:00 AM - #10 Ohio State at Michigan [ABC]
Morning option 1: This game has no significance outside pride (and prejudice). - 10:00 AM - Minnesota at #13 Iowa [ESPN]
Morning option 2: With Ohio State already in the BCS, Iowa losing their at-large chances would make us all very happy. - 10:00 AM - Sleep in
Morning option 3: Really. It's the Big 10. - 1:30 PM - #14 Penn State at Michigan State [ABC]
Upset pick: Apologies for a 3rd Big 10 game, but this one chooses to be more interesting due to the Jekyll and Hyde nature of Michigan State. Naturally, a Penn State loss will further increase our at-large chances, and Michigan State is always close to pulling off upsets. - 3:00 PM - Louisiana Tech at Fresno State
After last week exposed the fake Fresno for the real one, and La Tech showing up for two weeks in a row vs. Boise and Louisiana, this game shows some good promise. But then again, it is a WAC game. - 6:00 PM - #11 Oregon at Arizona [ABC]
Prime Time pick: Last time Oregon played in Arizona, their national championship hopes were 'buckled.' With 1-loss Georgia Tech inching closer to Boise in the BCS standings (they already leaped us in the computers) an Oregon win is an essential part of Boise's at-large bid. With an Oregon win, it's a different team; but an Oregon loss would have a strong impact in our credibility.
Edit: Thanks, Finloopio! - 8:30 PM - Nevada at New Mexico State [ESPNU]
Kellen Moore is watching this game -- shouldn't you be, too?
Other games not making the cut:
- 10:30 AM - Oklahoma at Texas Tech
A battle of the once-was'. The Sooners are hoping to recover from being un-ranked for the first time since 2005. A loss to Texas Tech and only ONE Big 12 might vote them in the top 15. - 12:00 PM - #4 TCU at Wyoming
TCU showed they don't play well in the cold ala Air Force. But does Wyoming have an offense that can hang with the Frogs? - 12:30 PM - Connecticut at Notre Dame [NBC]
Connecticut is still looking for that win that will help them in their grievance process. Meanwhile, with another Weis loss, the only people greiving in South Bend will be the employees of Dunkin' Donuts. - 1:30 PM - #8 LSU at Mississippi [CBS]
Vegas favors 30th(ish) ranked Ole Miss over a deficient LSU squad. While their only losses are 2 of the top 3 teams in the nation, they've been playing worse than any team around them. - 1:30 PM - Air Force at #22 Brigham Young
BYU barely escaped unde-win-ded New Mexico last week. Air Forces expects to gash a rushing defense that has seen it's problems this year. I'm not sure that an unranked BYU shows a lack of SOS than having Air Force add on a win, but hopefully the voters will assume that. - 5:30 PM - #25 California at #17 Stanford
Stanford is the new Trojan in the PAC-10 and hopes an Oregon upset will put them in the Rose Bowl. Cal is still playing without Best, but that didn't stop them from taking care of Arizona last week. - 6:00 PM - Hawaii at San Jose State [ESPN360.com]
If you like Saturday night high school games, you're in luck!
My apologies for last weeks hiatus. I was out with sickness and exams (not a good combo for my GPA). I had considered posted Week 11 games to watch after the fact, but then I got sick again this week (naturally, before another exam).
Enjoy this week of college football, but most of all; GO BRONCOS!

Oregon vs AZ
I beg to differ. EVERY Oregon game has importance to Boise State. If Oregon loses, we are in danger of falling behind a one-loss Va Tech school due to the computers. The better the number next to the “Boise State”name, the better the chances are of a BCS. Not to mention if Oregon wins the PAC 10, The media will put that right in front of the BCS Bowl’s faces (that BSU beat Oregon). Oh yeah, I’d say the Oregon game is one of the most important of the day… unless you count on Penn State, Iowa and Wisconsin all losing.

Good catch.
It has been argued that Boise’s win over Oregon means nothing…. unless Oregon loses.
I stand corrected my friend.
ps. I think you meant Ga, not Va Tech :)
