BSU ahead of TCU/Oregon in all but BCS: Poll watch (Week 9)
It's breakfast time and the Oregon Ducks are still partying in Autzen.

"Follow my nose .. to play in the Rose!" -- via lh4.ggpht.com
The Intern is in hiatus this week and has relectantly given his Poll Watch powers over to someone who can "bring it."
There was nothing significantly surprising this college weekend, unless you were the rest of the nation and believed all the USC hype, or a slit-writing 3rd Quarter Iowa fan who didn't wait to see bi-polar Stanzi. Two of the "gimme" three pummelled their opponents, and didn't need half as many flags to help them. Iowa "played-down" to Indiana for 3 quarters, then added the 12th man in the 4th quarter to pull past the Hoosiers. TCU, Boise, LSU, and Cincinnati easily took care of their opponents.
Did anyone else want to ask Mark May, "And what has Oklahoma done?"
Which brings us to poll watch topic of the day: Oregon and Boise. The folks at AtQ have already forgotten the respect Boise earned on opening weekend. It's a great thing Chip Kelly hasn't. He specifically gave the Broncos and Coach Peterson credit to the Gameday Crew (credit edited out by our favorite 4-lettered word). Meanwhile, Oregon's big win over USC should also help Boise.
- Does Oregon make the 4-spot leap over Boise?
- Will TCU hold it's lead over Boise in the BCS?
- Will Iowa drop for it's sub-par successes?

My prediction:
…For what it’s worth (self-challenge?)
Boise stays ahead of Oregon in both AP, Coaches, and Harris polls, but the computers already had Oregon 6th and Boise 8th last week. I think it will be close, but Oregon will stay behind Boise (for this week only) in the BCS.
I do think Boise leaps TCU this week, only to be leaped by them again 2 weeks later. Certainly Utah is carrying more weight than Idaho right now. Last week, I would have doubted Idaho could beat Fresno. But then Fresno had to squeak out vs. Utah State…. ugg, don’t get me started. Wrong thread, anyway.

Simple
IMO both tcu and iowa should drop to both oregon and boise. say what you want Boise has the most impress win this year over tcu. Granted tcu wins over virginia (lost to william and mary, and duke) clemson( still good) byu( overrated). Oregon is as good if not better then everyone thought. People say well 1st game of the season, well what about boise beating the ducks twice? last year and this year. anywho, iowa was horrible as bad as everyone thought they should drop in the human polls. the bcs should look something like this.
1. Florida
2. Texas
3. Bama
4. Boise
5. Iowa
6. Oregon
7. Tcu
8. Cincy

Iowa
Slightly off topic, but I didn’t know where else to post this, but I had a thought yesterday while trying to figure out the whole BCS mess, and it seems to me that it might help us out in the long run to have Iowa continue winning. I think at this point we can all agree that we aren’t going to make the BCS championship game (which I agree that we don’t have the resume to pass some of the teams in front of us), so if we are speaking of making a BCS game, by Iowa winning out it would seem to almost knock Penn State or Ohio State out of an at-large bid (especially if OSU beats Penn State). I suppose the same could be said about Texas winning out and the Big-12 not getting a second bid, but I think that Iowa (and Texas) winning could actually be beneficial for both us and TCU getting BCS bids. Thoughts?

Coaches Poll just released...
…TCU jumped us…we stay at 5:

insane that tcu jumped us
what are the coaches looking at that I’m not seeing?
by Finloopio on Nov 1, 2009 11:16 AM PST reply actions 0 recs
They're not seeing anything
All they do is look at last week’s rankings and move people up or down based on if they lost.
Unfortunately they weren’t looking at last weeks USA Today poll but last week’s BCS poll and adjusted their rankings to look like that.

I'm considering taking a sedative.
Sundays are killing me, one asinine voter at a time. Next home game, I’m taking a computer to the game and asking Coach Pete if I can borrow the hammer to beat it to pieces. Who’s with me?

Boise State exactly 1 point behind Cincy.

AP released...we're back at 5
TCU 6
Oregon 7
Cincy is still ahead of us…but only by 1 point now!!! And we actually gained points on TCU!

Harris released as well.
It looks like TCU will remain above us. The margin between us and TCU is not big in the Harris or Coaches polls.
I was also surprised that nobody loves Oregon. While this doesn’t affect us directly, it should stand that the more love Oregon gets, the more love Boise gets.

I disagree...I think everyone loves Oregon...they are the highest ranked 1-loss team in every poll.

r u kidding me?
Boise is getting alot of love from the harris poll, computers like boise because of oregon, and with the huge oregon win over usc id be surprised if we dont jump 2 spots in the bcs.

Well.
TCU was ranked #4 in computers last week, Boise #8. Even if Boise is better than TCU in the computers, TCU still is above us in 2/3rds of the formula.
Besides, I’m tired of being optimistic and then getting screwed.

What?
If Boise jumps TCU in the computers, then Boise is better in 2/3…Harris and Computers…TCU would only have the Coaches poll.
Agreed on being optimistic, though.

Did anyone notice Boise State received a first place vote in the Harris poll? Wonder who it was. I’m guessing it’s some protest vote by someone.

lots of spit flying out of Coach Holtz
must’ve been a little fired up, huh? =D
glad to see us back on top of TCU in the AP; the coaches are dumb (big surprise), but it’s only by a few points. let’s see what the computers say.
Thank you, Nick Adenhart. You will always be remembered. #34

Good matchup but...
We saw that last year. The BCS will not do it. The ratings (aka money) will be the lowest in BCS history.

Aye.
The Fiesta (or any BCS bowl) wants a big money program. If Texas goes to the NC game, they’ll pick an at-large USC, even if they have 3 losses.

lol
these rankings are a joke. Iowa seriously? did anyone else see that performance at Indiana? cincy is gonna fall @ pittsburgh couple weeks from now, hawkeyes will fall @ osu, oregon will go undefeated for the rest of the season along with the broncos and horn frogs. usc will not get into a bcs game because of that oregon game. otherwise lsu falls to bama and ga tech wins out. Just my thoughts im thinking broncos finish 4th or 5th at the end of the season still alot of fb to be played and atleast 3 teams fall infront of us, iowa, cincy, and bama/florida 1 of em.

crazy tho
let me ask you guys this. if oregon goes undefeated, in the computers oregon would keep moving up and it would 2 help us because we beat them. now oregon wins out boise wins out and tcu wins out and they are gonna rank oregon ahead of boise and tcu but not boise ahead of tcu altho we beat oregon? someone explain this? i know the system sos and all that but how would oregon get ranked higher then both tcu and boise and boise would be the only team to beat such a good duck squad and that aint good enough win to put us over tcu? kinda feels like no matter who the broncos beat it never really matters. picture this if you will Oregon vs TCU who wins? i believe with that performance last night over usc id go with the ducks big.
