TCU fans awfully confident about the P-Bowl

Ask any TCU fan what he thinks about the Poinsettia Bowl and you are likely to get one of three responses:

  1. Boise State is going to get killed. They have never played a team as fast or as talented as TCU.

  2. Boise State is going to get killed. They play in the WAC. TCU plays in the MWC.

  3. Boise State is going to get killed. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go brand something.

See a similar theme to all of them? Exactly. TCU fans unequivocally think that the Horned Frogs are going to roll over the Broncos on Tuesday in the Poinsettia Bowl. Most of them don't even expect it to be close. They picture Jerry Hughes hog-tying Kellen Moore, the TCU offense scoring at will, and Burger King's western cheeseburger, just because.

We got lost over on a TCU message board earlier in the week and fell headlong into a discussion about the Broncos' inadequacies. It was not pretty. Here are some of the most egregious remarks, taken out of context so that they look worse.

Broncos haven't played a team as good as Frogs year ... TCU D will be too much to handle... 31-17

This TCU team is the best team that Boise State has faced in their entire history.

On paper everything seems to point to a win-able situation for the Frogs

I've got all the respect in the world for your program but about halfway through the 1st quarter of this game you're going to turn to the guy next to you and say "Oh crap, I think we're in trouble".

But tell us how you really feel.

We should point out that there are sensible TCU fans out there, too. We just haven't ever met any of them. And to a certain extent, these Horned Froggers do sound like us - if we were to have a drawl and a monosyllabic vocabulary. We can be braggadocios with the best of them.

So what's our beef with these confident fans? Nothing really. We just play in the WAC, so we're not all that used to it.

TCU is a good, very fast team – I watched them in person vs UNLV. It is very unlikely either team will blow the other one out, both are too well coached and healthy and talented for that (and yes, Peterson is a better coach than Hawkins re: Georgia). It appears that TCU is a slightly better team than BSU. However, I suspect that Moore is not a great quarterback but a legendary one. If this is true, Boise State is slightly better than TCU – still anybody's game.

Man it is been such a long time since I was really worried that Boise State might lose – I'm still adjusting.

Imagine this team if we still had Clady and Young. sighh.

Graham Watson is garbage. She is a Judas and a poor judge of the intangibles of football. No offense, but why do the independents get a chick for a blogger? Seriously! And I predict a 30-14 BSU win. Mark my words!

Unbelievable. It's times like these I wish I had a blog to post about just how incredibly contradictory and maddening this woman is. Oh wait. I do.

So much for never doubting BSU again. I liked her better when I thought she was a dude.

All eerily reminiscent of Oregon fans earlier this year

and Southern Miss….and San Jose….and Nevada…and Fresno State.

At least the Utah State fans had the smarts to keep quiet.

Yes, but this is a different tone. All those teams just thought that Boise State was overrated and they were going to surprise us.

For TCU fans (and Oregon, Oklahoma, etc.), they honestly believe that Boise State has never seen anything like TCU. Like they are on another level.

I completely agree. Like Captain Bald Guy said to Maverick and Goose in Top Gun, "Son- your ego's writing checks your body can't cash."

"Pride goeth before the fall."

I could say the same thing about TCU. While they might have seen a team as good as Boise State, they haven't beaten a team as good as Boise State. And that's what matters, right?

TCU has 2 undefeated seasons in school history. 1932 & 1938 respectively.

Boise State has 3 undefeated (regular) seasons in the last five years.

ENVY?
