Talk it out: Poinsettia Bowl open comment thread
It's game time for the Broncos and the Horned Frogs, which means it is comment time for tech-savvy Bronco fans.
Feel free to hang out in the comment section and chat along as you watch tonight's Poinsettia Bowl (ESPN, 6:00pm MT). Conversation can include: game analysis, sophisticated humor, ESPN announcing critiques, recipes, exclamation points, defensive strategy, Christmas miscellany, and riddles. It may not include CAPS lock. That is fORBIDDEN.
Will the Broncos finish undefeated? Will TCU even score? Will Kellen Moore transmogrify into a poinsettia and then back again for no apparent reason? We'll find out soon enough. Go Broncos!

The only ones who should be nervous are the players

i now predict no offensive production until the 3rd quarter

Here's hoping Jeremy Kerley throws the ball some more. All in all, a good first quarter – an excellent first quarter.

TCU is sniffing out those screens pretty well. It's a good way to relieve the pressure on Moore, but it's not effective in gaining any yardage.

yeah and the defense needs to find an answer to the option.

This is getting ridiculous. Someone explain to me how this team isn't BCS worty.

Doesn't this poor showing put to rest the fantasy that bsu is a BCS worthy team?
by JWP on Dec 23, 2008 9:04 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
Am I wrong or do "BCS" teams also lose games to other top ranked team? Or is that just the "Non-BCS" teams that do that? I would have to say that both of those teams would be deserving of that almighty distinction, wouldn't you? I could see you saying that if it was a blowout, but those were two very evenly matched teams and the game lived up to all its hype.

Boise State needs to take the page in their defensive playbook titled PREVENT, tear it up, burn it and flush it.

Isn't that the same thing that happened at the end of the Oregon game, too? After building up a lead, they relaxed on defense and let the Ducks put up some points.

I'm hoping it's more like the Utah State game.

Does anyone know why Avery hasn't run the ball yet???? He was our best RB this year.
by bronco4life on Dec 23, 2008 6:51 PM PST reply actions 0 recs
He ran it at least once, out when we on our 5 yrd line in the 2nd quarter
by cogitoboy on Dec 23, 2008 7:24 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
he definitely has a smaller role than usual. very curious.

man, we scored two touchdowns on that drive. Sheesh. PI on everyplay. I officially hate TCU.

Ya, but I'll take 12-1 for a rebuilding year I guess. Better than Michigan's rebuilding year. I'm saying at least 47 wins for kellen in his career.

if you want to see a grown man cry you can come to my house : ( Possible Zabransky curse?
by BSUBLUE on Dec 23, 2008 8:25 PM PST reply actions 0 recs
The words "Just don't pull a Zabransky" could have come out of my lips any sooner than he threw that pick. I nearly cried too! I have to say also, that while this loss is disappointing, I'm not as upset as I was last year. I think this is a great building opportunity. Think of the motivation that this will provide next year. If you are going to lose, at least it is to a quality opponent and by the smallest of margins. TCU's defense is as good as advertised. I can't wait for next year!!!

GHM, you and afoote are right. For a rebuilding year, this has been pretty special, and losing by one to TCU should not take away from what the team has done all year long. Losing never feels good, but it feels a lot better when you have a team as strong as the Broncos are.

I feel for you. If TCU fans were bad before the game, I cannot imagine what they're like at this point (well, besides drunk and belligerent).

Sadly to say, most were pretty cool, at least those in A1 in the parking lot. Gave them shit, and most were surprised they won. Hoping for a top 15 preseason still.

Man both side are holding on every pass play. It is amazing that two of the most penalized teams in college football only have 1 holding penalty between them.
