Fresno State - Boise State open comment thread
Greetings, Bronco fans, and welcome to the final regular season Bronco comment thread of the year.
Come join us throughout the game to share thoughts, comments, analysis, and more on Fresno State vs. Boise State (4:00pm, ESPN2, ESPN360).
Of note: Jeron Johnson was arrested yesterday for not appearing in court on an underage consumption citation. He's going to play, much to the chagrin of Fresno State fans who made their giant poster signs last night.
See you in the comments. Go Broncos!

I am not thankful for the preseason NIT championship going into overtime. Oklahoma has its Fiesta Bowl revenge, it would seem.

Looks like Bush Hamdan will get the start today. Better late than never.

Did I say better? I meant worse. Very, very worse.

I was pissed when I saw another Pick 6. Made much more sense when I saw number 3 in pursuit in the following highlight though.

Pretty sure that last tackle on Avery was a horse collar but whatever

Does Tom Brandstater know what to do when he is getting sacked? Let me help: don't stretch the ball out like a girl.

So does anybody know if Titus Young will be around next year?
by Jim on Nov 28, 2008 3:57 AM PST reply actions 0 recs
Love Ian, but he doesn't make that play. Next year is going to be awesome

Good job, Brandstater. You probably won't need that time out later.

Really Pat Hill? Mike Utley? The 1990's called; they want their motivational paralytic back.
by kevanlee on Nov 28, 2008 5:11 PM PST reply actions 0 recs
I like how his players need to be told it's an important play.
by Nick on Nov 28, 2008 5:13 PM PST reply actions 0 recs
Pat Hill should have had his thumbs up before that punt return.

Where is the camera located? Shouldn't it be at the top of the press box? How are people's arms in the way? I'm so confused.

This game is a microcosm of a Fresno season: start off well early, hang in despite mismanagement, then everything falls apart down the stretch.

It should be noted that Vinny Peretta was double covered on that last TD. Fresno has decided that he will not be the one that beats them

May I be the first to say it?
"That escalated quickly."

I didn't want to say anything but, yes it did

I was checking the box score to see if Ian had gotten his customary TD yet and I came across Bush Hamden's line for the game so far: 0/1 1 INT. Rough night

Think Kyle Wilson's going pro at the end of the year? He's solid in all aspects of the game and probably better than Scandrick was last season.

Yeah, I think he holds out unless they project him in the first 2 rounds
by Nick on Nov 28, 2008 5:43 PM PST reply actions 0 recs
So, Ian just went over 100 yards for the first time this year

Winterswyk is just taking free shots at Brandstater now

Oh good. A Chrissy Johnson interview. That's just what this game needed.

Ok, that was another horse collar tackle. Apparently we are letting those go tonight

No one knows, Jim. I have a hunch that he won't, but my hunches are not usually right because they're based on Facebook messages.

Yay I love field goals instead of touchdowns

See, I wouldn't have called that one a horse collar. The dangerous part about horse collars are when the defender rides the ball carrier to the ground while holding onto the collar of the pads (like what happened on Avery's first horse collar). I'm not sure how they're supposed to call it, whether or not it's any tackle with that shoulder pad collar or not. Apparently, the refs aren't sure, either, and when in doubt, just let it go.

The call has to be when you take down a runner by the back of the neck of the jersey or shoulder pads. If you start venturing into the territory of how the tackle ended up, I think it gets sketchy.

I need Mike T Williams to walk off the field under his own power
by Nick on Nov 29, 2008 4:13 AM PST reply actions 0 recs
Do you have him on your fantasy team or something?
by kevanlee on Nov 29, 2008 4:15 AM PST reply actions 0 recs
Well not a fantasy team in the traditional sense

Is Joe Tessitore wearing a quilted yellow tie? Maybe Rod Gilmore could give us an update on it since Rod is standing about six inches from the guy.

Is it awkward for everyone else when they gaze into each other's eyes? Or is that just me?
by Nick on Nov 29, 2008 4:22 AM PST reply actions 0 recs
Is anybody else like pissed off with the way this game is going so far?
by Jim on Nov 29, 2008 4:25 AM PST reply actions 0 recs
Sean Bingham will not be getting his deposit back on that helmet.

Rod should have covered clock management in his Rod's Research segment for Pat Hill

I'm talking myself into the 3rd quarter being the new 2nd quarter ever since the Idaho game.
by Nick on Nov 29, 2008 4:32 AM PST reply actions 0 recs
I'm upset that it should be more of a blowout than it is. Settling for field goals twice hurts. Missing a field goal hurts. Throwing a pick-six hurts. It could be 24-3 very easily.

What was he so mad about? He was the one who screwed everything up.
a. Call your timeout once the guy goes down after the catch. No sense chewing him out for not getting the first down.
b. have your FG team ready to run out for that final snap.
c. coach Tom Brandstater to understand that it will take at least one second to spike the ball, and when there is only one second left on the clock, he should probably throw a hail mary instead.
d. prepare your team for all of these situations so that they don't screw them up royally at the end of the half.
